Accounts Payable Officer – Job Description Finance Officer We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to support the processing and reconciliation of funding payments to schools. The role requires strong attention to detail, accurate record keeping, and the ability to communicate effectively with schools and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Finance Officer • Processing funding and supplier payments accurately and within agreed timescales • Reconciling accounts and investigating discrepancies • Maintaining accurate financial records and payment schedules • Communicating with schools regarding payments, queries, and financial information • Updating and maintaining SAP records and financial data • Supporting reporting and administrative finance tasks as required • Ensuring compliance with financial procedures and audit requirements Essential Requirements Finance Officer • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar finance or accounts payable role within a local authority or school setting • Minimum 1 year’s experience using SAP • Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills as a minimum, including use of formulas, spreadsheets, and data management • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail • Good communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships • Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks effectively Desirable Finance Officer • Experience working with school funding or education finance processes • Experience reconciling large volumes of financial data • Knowledge of financial controls and audit requirements
