Job description

My client is seeking a dedicated part-time Finance Officer (2 days per week) to provide effective and efficient financial support to their Tenant Management Organisation (TMO). This role involves managing financial records, bookkeeping, and covering managerial duties in the absence of the TMO Manager. The ideal candidate will work under the policies and procedures of the TMO and report directly to the TMO Manager. Day-to-day of the role: • Maintain accurate financial records and books for the TMO, including bank reconciliations, invoice processing, and payment preparations. • Operate internet banking and manage transactions such as BACS and CHAPS. • Handle all banking activities, including liaising with the bank on matters related to the TMO’s accounts and banking all income received. • Manage petty cash and VAT records, prepare VAT claims, and liaise with HMRC regarding VAT matters. • Administer payroll and pensions, manage monthly budget status, control variance analysis, and prepare budgets. • Prepare financial reports for audits and liaise with auditors. • Maintain the TMO’s rent accounts, process rent and benefits received, and manage communications related to rent and tenant service charges with Lewisham Council. • Provide financial reports to the Treasurer, Finance Subcommittee, and Management Committee as requested. • Cover for the TMO Manager during their absence and assist in various administrative duties as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Proven experience in financial management or bookkeeping. • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. • Proficiency in using financial software and internet banking. • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. • Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with various stakeholders including banks, HMRC, and council authorities. • Commitment to upholding the TMO’s Equality and Diversity Policy.
