Job description

Finance Officer (2-Month Temporary Contract) About the Role We are seeking a Finance Officer to join our clients finance team on a 2-month temporary contract. This role will provide essential support across financial transaction processing, financial controls, grants administration, and reporting activities. The successful candidate will ensure financial records are maintained accurately, transactions are processed in line with internal policies, and finance operations continue to run smoothly during the contract period. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who can quickly integrate into a busy team and deliver high-quality support from day one. Key Responsibilities Financial Controls, Transaction Processing & Quality Assurance • Ensure complete and accurate processing of financial transactions, maintaining compliance with internal policies and funding requirements. • Support the development and maintenance of effective financial controls, processes, and best-practice procedures to ensure transactions are appropriately authorised and accurately recorded. • Review financial transaction listings and identify any required corrections or adjustments. • Prepare and review project fund statements, investigating and resolving any discrepancies or outstanding balances. • Ensure all financial transactions are supported by appropriate documentation, approvals, and audit trails. • Maintain accurate and organised financial records in line with company requirements. • Process accruals and reversals as required, ensuring transactions are recorded in the correct accounting period. • Support the maintenance of strong financial governance and compliance standards. Financial Reporting Support • Provide reporting support to the Finance team as required. • Assist with the preparation and distribution of project and grant expenditure reports. • Support budget monitoring activities, helping stakeholders track expenditure against approved budgets. • Assist with variance analysis and provide financial information to support decision-making. • Contribute to the development and maintenance of reporting templates and tools to improve reporting efficiency and accuracy. Ad Hoc Duties to Support the Finance Team • Provide general support across finance and grants activities as required. • Assist with audit preparation and responses to information requests. • Support donor, stakeholder, and project-related finance queries. • Assist with process improvement initiatives and the implementation of enhanced financial controls. • Contribute to financial systems, reporting, and data-quality improvement projects. • Undertake additional administrative, financial, and project-related tasks to support the wider Finance and Grants team and ensure the smooth delivery of departmental objectives. Skills & Experience • Previous experience in a Finance Officer, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar finance role. • Experience processing financial transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. • Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel. • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. • Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes in a temporary assignment environment.
