Job description
Our client is a successful global banking group with offices based in the City/London. With a sustained 15-year track record of steady growth without the need to made redundancies, this global bank has a strong reputation in the market for developing the careers of its employees, offering a stable business with an excellent and positive working culture. Their Finance department are now recruiting for a fully-qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA / CA) accounting professional to assist with the control & reconciliation of all accounting input into their management information system, providing daily support relating to management and financial accounting matters, and effectively dealing with data, specifically relating to revenue.
Purpose of the Role:
• Management and control of the data integrity within Gross Profit transactional reporting in the bank’s management information system in order to provide management information for the EMEA region and all related work.
• Provide technical support relating to Management and Financial Accounting matters.
• Treasury P&L reporting (including month end reporting and investigating Treasury reconciliation breaks).
• Production of Financial and Management Accounting reports and analysis for both EMEA and Head Office audiences.
Profile Criteria:
• Fully-Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with post-qualification experience in accounting, control and reporting roles within a global banking business or financial services Plc
• Experience of reconciliations and some understanding or experience of Treasury accounting / control / revenue
• Income / Revenue reporting experience ideal with strong skills around data, financial and management accounting, financial control and finance process improvement and automation
• Able to understand new and existing accounting standards and to interpret the impact they will have on group entities with exposure to incomplete records accounting (i.e., experience dealing with investigations around discrepancies would be useful)
• Strong stakeholder management experience and excellent communication skills
Responsibilities / Tasks:
• Preparation of monthly performance data within the bank’s management information system including updates, consistency checks and reconciliations for all booking locations within the EMEA region.
• Analyse P&L in the bank’s management information system to ensure completeness versus GL and accurate allocation between Front Office departments, Treasury and senior management.
• Discuss with and advise relevant stakeholders (for example, within Financial Control, senior management and Treasury departments) regarding the treatment and booking of transactions.
• Reporting to colleagues and management of expected and unexpected allocations and other variance observations.
• Review of reporting (and other) processes, to identify and investigate any reporting risks and inefficiencies.
• Devise solutions which eliminate or mitigate risk and inefficiencies through automation.
• Liaise with Head Office departments and accounting teams of the overseas branches world-wide to guide and support them with regards to EMEA transactions.
• Lead the system set-up of data structure changes (e.g. opening of new branches, departmental restructure), proactively seek the required information to ensure that the set-up will work effectively, analysing and making decisions in how to achieve the desired outcome.
• Provide analysis of monthly income for management including production of commentary, tables and charts as required.
• Identify potential sources of risk, investigating them thoroughly and taking appropriate action.
• Taking a proactive approach, on behalf of the team, in being involved in Financial Control and the bank’s initiatives.
• Ensuring up to date procedures are kept for team workflows and processes.
