Financial Controller Location: Buckingham, Buckinghamshire Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 per annum + bonus + car allowance + benefits An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to join a growing and highly respected specialist safety business based in Buckingham. This is a pivotal leadership role within a dynamic organisation supporting hazardous materials management and compliance across critical industrial sectors. About the Company Our client operates within the hazardous materials safety and environmental compliance sector, delivering expert solutions for the safe storage, handling, and transportation of dangerous goods. They support industries such as chemical manufacturing, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, and environmental services. Known for their technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and commitment to safety, the business is experiencing strong growth and continues to expand its footprint across the UK. The Role This is a hands-on position where you will take full ownership of the finance function, reporting directly to senior leadership. Leading a small and dedicated team, you will oversee day-to-day financial operations while also providing strategic insight to support business growth and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities • Oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis • Deliver timely and accurate financial statements in line with UK accounting standards • Monitor cash flow and working capital, ensuring financial stability • Lead financial planning to support strategic growth initiatives • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage external auditors and advisors • Develop and maintain robust financial controls and governance frameworks • Provide commercial insight and strategic recommendations to senior management • Support system improvements, including ERP and financial reporting tools • Partner with operational teams to drive efficiency and cost control Requirements • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent) • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role within an SME • Background in highly transactional, B2B is advantageous • Experience in working with UK businesses with EU presence • Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance, and reporting • Experience managing finance systems and ERP platforms • Commercially astute, proactive, and confident communicator • Able to operate both strategically and hands-on in a growing business Benefits • Competitive salary: £70,000 depending on experience • Performance-related bonus scheme • Car allowance (optional) • Opportunities for career progression as the business grows • Supportive, collaborative working environment • High level of autonomy and influence within the leadership team • A chance to contribute to a business that plays a critical role in safety and environmental protection This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional seeking a meaningful and impactful role within a specialist, purpose-driven organisation.
