Financial Controller | Construction / Engineering Bury | Office Based | Full Time
£65,000 - £75,000 + Private Healthcare + Enhanced Pension
Work in Progress (WIP) experience is ESSENTIALAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a successful and growing engineering business based in Bury.
This is a key leadership role where you'll take ownership of the finance function, partnering with senior management to drive commercial performance and support continued business growth.
Please note: This role requires previous experience within a construction, engineering, contracting or project-based business, with strong hands-on experience of Work in Progress (WIP) accounting, revenue recognition and payment applications. Applications without this experience cannot be considered.
The OpportunityThis is far more than a traditional Financial Controller position. You'll play a strategic role in the business whilst remaining hands-on across all aspects of the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the finance function and develop the finance team.
• Produce monthly management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
• Manage cash flow and working capital.
• Ensure robust financial controls and statutory compliance.
• Oversee payroll, VAT and CIS reporting.
• Take ownership of Work in Progress (WIP) reporting, revenue recognition and payment applications.
• Monitor project profitability and provide commercial analysis to senior leadership.
• Business partner with operational teams to improve financial performance.
• Liaise with auditors, banks and external advisers.
About YouTo be successful in this role you will be:
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• An experienced Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Experienced within the construction, engineering, contracting or project-based sector.

Experience of Xero, Construction Manager and advanced Excel would be advantageous.
