Financial Controller Location: Canary Wharf, London (Fully Office-based) Salary: Circa £60,000 + Private Healthcare + Excellent Benefits An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join a growing and well-established professional services business that provides finance support to a diverse portfolio of hospitality clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing leadership role where you will act as the outsourced Financial Controller for a portfolio of clients, delivering accurate financial reporting, commercial insight and operational support while leading an internal finance team. This opportunity would particularly suit someone currently working within an accountancy practice who is looking for a varied, managerial role. Candidates with previous Practice Manager experience will be highly regarded, although this is not essential. The RoleAs Financial Controller, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of hospitality clients, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their financial information while providing commercial support to operational management teams. Your responsibilities will include: • Managing a portfolio of hospitality clients as their outsourced Financial Controller. • Preparing monthly management accounts, including detailed balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments. • Producing weekly flash reports analysing sales, labour costs, stock consumption and gross profit against budget and prior year. • Preparing budgets, forecasts and cash flow reports. • Reviewing financial performance, identifying trends and providing commercial recommendations. • Working closely with Restaurant and Operational Managers to monitor labour costs and other key performance indicators. • Assisting with stock control processes and reconciling stock systems to accounting records. • Reviewing purchase ledger activity, aged creditors and monthly payment runs. • Reviewing and reconciling payroll, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and associated control accounts. • Assisting with year-end processes and liaising with external accountants during statutory accounts preparation. • Developing and improving financial controls, reporting processes and internal systems. • Managing, mentoring and developing the finance team to ensure high standards of performance and service delivery. • Building strong client relationships through regular meetings and ongoing financial support. About YouThe successful candidate will possess: • A minimum of 7–8 years' experience within finance or accountancy. • Previous experience within an accountancy practice is highly desirable. • Experience managing a portfolio of hospitality clients within a practice environment would be highly advantageous. • Alternatively, strong hospitality finance experience gained within industry will also be considered. • Previous experience as a Practice Manager or in a similar finance leadership position would be a significant advantage. • At least part-qualified ACCA or ACA. • Expert knowledge of Xero and Sage Line 50 (essential). • Strong management accounting and financial control experience. • Proven experience managing and developing finance teams. • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work closely with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
