Job description

Financial Planner — Inherit an Established Client Bank Reading (one day per week in the office) | Circa £90,000 + discretionary bonus + full benefits There are advice roles, and then there are opportunities like this one. A long-standing Adviser at one of the UK's leading independent wealth management firms is preparing for a well-earned retirement — and the firm is looking for an experienced Financial Planner to step into those relationships and carry them forward. This is not a business development role. The clients are already here: high-net-worth individuals and families with established, ongoing planning needs. Your job is to become genuinely intertwined in their financial lives — to earn their trust through a careful handover, understand what matters to them, and deliver the same standard of advice they've enjoyed for years, with your own stamp on it. If you're a relationship-led planner who takes pride in the depth of your client work rather than the size of your pipeline, this will suit you perfectly. What you'll be doing • Managing a warm, established book of high-net-worth clients transitioning from a retiring Adviser, with a structured, supported handover • Building deep, personal relationships — regular reviews, proactive planning conversations, and being the trusted first call for anything financial • Delivering holistic financial planning across pensions and retirement, investments, IHT and estate planning, and protection • Working closely with an experienced paraplanning and administration team who keep the advice journey smooth and compliant • Collaborating with professional partners — private client lawyers, accountants and tax advisers — where clients' affairs demand it Why this firm • Genuine independence. No in-house products, no restricted panels. Advisers are given the freedom, knowledge and resources to recommend whatever is best for each client. • A partnership-led culture. Ambitious, positive, like-minded people who believe there's something better than the traditional model of financial advice — and have built an award-winning firm proving it. • Technology that gives you time back. Pioneering digital onboarding, a client-led portal, automated ongoing suitability and enhanced reporting — all designed to maximise your time in front of clients, not paperwork. • Room to thrive. Structured support for qualifications and ongoing development, with informal learning sessions running throughout the year. The package • Circa £90,000 basic, benchmarked annually • Discretionary bonus based on individual and firm performance • Hybrid working — just one day per week in the Reading office • 27 days' holiday plus bank holidays • Employer-funded health cover, income protection and 4x life assurance • Pension via salary exchange • Enhanced parental leave, fertility leave, volunteer leave and an employee assistance programme Who we're looking for • An experienced, Diploma-qualified (or Chartered) Financial Planner with a track record of advising high-net-worth clients • Someone who excels at relationship management — warm, credible and genuinely curious about clients' lives, not just their portfolios • Experience of inheriting or transitioning a client bank would be a real advantage, though it isn't essential • Comfortable working with autonomy, with the judgement to know when to draw on the wider team
