Freight Operations Manager

The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Operations Planner / Transport Coordinator to join a growing logistics operation. Reporting into the Operations team, you will play a key role in managing inbound and outbound trailer movements, ensuring efficient shipment planning between the UK and Europe. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys coordinating complex logistics operations, working with multiple stakeholders, and maintaining smooth warehouse and transport flows. Key Responsibilities • Plan and coordinate inbound shipments arriving from Europe. • Consolidate loads and organise onward distribution to UK destinations including Manchester and Birmingham. • Coordinate offloading activities with the warehouse team. • Review shipment grouping and maximise trailer utilisation. • Build and plan ongoing outbound trailers within the UK and back into Europe. • Ensure effective load planning and weight distribution across approximately 15 trailers. • Assist with route planning and operational efficiency. • Liaise with warehouse, transport and operational teams to ensure smooth execution of daily plans. • Monitor shipment progress and resolve operational issues as they arise. • Maintain accurate planning and operational records. About You We're looking for a proactive and organised logistics professional who can confidently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will ideally have: • Experience within transport planning, logistics, operations or distribution. • Strong understanding of trailer planning and load optimisation. • Knowledge of UK and European logistics operations. • Experience planning multiple trailer movements simultaneously. • Excellent organisational and communication skills. • Strong attention to detail, particularly around load planning and weight distribution. • The ability to build effective working relationships across warehouse and transport functions.
