Are you an adaptable, confident individual looking to make a genuine difference in a secondary school environment? On behalf of a highly regarded school based in Oakley, Randstad Education is seeking an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their supportive team from September 2026. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced youth workers who excel at managing groups of young people and want to gain invaluable experience across a variety of subjects. You will join a welcoming community of staff who prioritise pupil well-being, smooth daily operations, and mutual support. Key Responsibilities • Classroom Supervision: Lead lessons across a variety of subjects in the absence of the regular class teacher, ensuring set work is completed to a high standard. • Maintain Positive Behaviour: Apply the school's behaviour management policies effectively to promote an orderly, focused, and respectful classroom atmosphere. • Support Pupil Engagement: Assist pupils with queries regarding their assigned tasks, encouraging them to stay motivated and on-track. • Handover & Feedback: Collect completed work at the end of each session and leave clear, concise notes for the returning subject teacher. • Uphold School Ethos: Adhere closely to all school policies, particularly those surrounding safeguarding, child welfare, and health and safety. Candidate ProfileWe are looking for a reliable and proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to command respect in the classroom. • Experience: Prior experience working with secondary-aged young people (e.g., coaching, youth work, tutoring, or previous school roles) is highly desirable. • Communication: Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills. • Adaptability: The confidence to step into different subject areas on short notice with a calm and positive approach. • Qualifications: A good standard of general education (degree level or equivalent experience preferred, but not essential). • Compliance: An Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or a willingness to undertake one with Randstad).
