Confidential: Governess Role A busy executive family is seeking an exceptional Governess to provide educational support, mentorship, and guidance. This is an excellent opportunity for an academically accomplished professional who is passionate about education, child development, and helping children reach their full potential. The family places an emphasis on academics, as well as on sport and personal development. Position Details • Monday to Friday • 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm • £40–£50 per hour, depending on experience Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have: • Minimum degree educated in Mathematics, English, Science or a related discipline (mandatory requirement; candidates without appropriate qualifications will not be considered). • Experience supporting children’s educational development. • A strong understanding of the UK curriculum. • Excellent organisational and communication skills. • A professional, discreet, and proactive approach. • A genuine interest in sport, personal development, and child wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Academic Support • Ensure all homework is completed to a high standard. • Provide structured additional educational support and enrichment. • Foster strong study habits, organisation, and independent learning skills. • Monitor academic progress and communicate with parents as required. • Ensure weekend homework and academic commitments are completed before departure on Fridays. • Support preparation for assessments, projects, and examinations where appropriate. Personal and Sporting Development • Encourage participation in sport and physical activities. • Support the development of confidence, resilience, teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills. • Promote a balanced lifestyle that supports both academic achievement and physical wellbeing. Daily Management • The Governess will have sole responsibility during working hours and will oversee day-to-day schedules, educational progress, and overall wellbeing. • Collecting the children from local school and ensuring they are transported to activities or home for study time as required. • Accompanying the children to and from certain extracurricular activities and appointments. • Ensuring smooth transitions between school, activities, homework, and home life. • Maintaining clear communication with parents regarding schedules and progress. School Holiday Enrichment During school holidays, when the family is not travelling, the Governess will be responsible for creating a structured and engaging programme that supports the children’s continued development. This will include: • Planning educational, cultural, and sporting activities. • Organising visits to museums, galleries, exhibitions, and other enriching venues. • Arranging educational excursions and experiences. • Encouraging curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and independent learning. • Supporting the social, cultural, and personal development through carefully selected opportunities and experiences.
