Job responsibilitiesAs a GP Practice Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing excellent customer service and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the practice. The role requires someone with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Will need to be part of total triage team. Will have 2 weeks introductory session with senior colleague and will be trained for total triage. System one is our computer system. Key Responsibilities Reception: Greeting patients and handling telephone/email enquiries in a professional & friendly manner Booking, amending, and cancelling appointments using our clinical system Processing prescriptions, referrals, and other administrative tasks Handling patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy Supporting clinicians with administrative tasks, including medical coding and scanning. Person SpecificationSkills and attributesEssential • Good communication skills, oral and written • Good team working • Good interpersonal skills • Attention to detail • Flexibility • Keyboard skills • Well mannered and well presented • Patient, tolerant, tactful and discreet • Enthusiastic, honest and reliable Desirable • Self-motivating • Demonstrate initiative • Ability to prioritize tasks • Able to tolerate and manage stress ExperienceEssential • Previous experience working with computers Desirable • Experience as a Medical Receptionist in a GP Surgery • Previous experience of customer care or dealing with members of public in a frontline role QualificationsEssential • Good general education with good numeracy and literacy skills • Previous experience working with computers Desirable • Experience as a Medical Receptionist in a GP Surgery • Previous experience of customer care or dealing with members of public in a frontline role Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
