Job Title: Groundworks Site Manager – Essex & South East (up to £5m projects) Salary: Competitive, DOE Location: Essex, with projects across London, Kent, Suffolk & the Home Counties Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About Us Elson Group (Construction) Ltd is a commercial groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in Heybridge, Essex. We self-deliver projects up to £5 million using our own plant, vehicles and workforce, working across commercial, industrial, education, care and retirement sectors. The Role We’re looking for an experienced Groundworks Site Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of our sites — from mobilisation through to handover. You’ll manage subcontractors and direct labour, liaise with clients and main contractors, and ensure work is delivered safely, to programme, and to specification. Key Responsibilities • Full site management of groundworks and civil engineering packages (bulk earthworks, foundations, drainage, concrete works, external works) • Manage site teams, plant and subcontractors day-to-day • Ensure compliance with H&S standards and site-specific RAMS • Liaise with clients, main contractors, and the commercial team on progress and variations • Manage site records, RFIs, and dayworks • Coordinate deliveries, plant hire, and material requirements • Report to Operations/Contracts management on progress and issues What We’re Looking For • Proven experience as a Site Manager in groundworks/civil engineering • SMSTS and CSCS (Manager level) essential • First Aid at Work desirable • Strong knowledge of drainage, foundations, concrete works and external works • Full UK driving licence What We Offer • Long-term stability with a growing, well-established contractor • Projects across Essex and the South East • Supportive team environment with direct access to senior management
