Financial Accountant (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Manchester (Hybrid)
Salary: Circa £50,000 - £60,000 + Benefits
Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term Contract start asap
A well-established professional services organisation is seeking a Financial Accountant to join its finance team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant or a recently qualified auditor looking to gain exposure to group reporting, financial control, systems development and business transformation within a large, complex UK business.
Due to the immediate needs of the team, candidates should be available to start immediately.
The Role
Working as part of a high-performing finance function, you will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, group consolidations and robust financial controls, while contributing to ongoing process improvement initiatives and systems developments.
This is a varied role offering exposure to both day-to-day financial accounting responsibilities and wider finance projects, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to broaden their experience within a professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver month-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting in line with reporting deadlines
• Prepare group consolidations and financial reporting under UK GAAP (FRS 102)
• Ensure balance sheet integrity through accurate reconciliations and controls
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and external audit requirements
• Manage month-end activities including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Maintain intercompany accounting processes and reconciliations
• Support finance system enhancements and process improvement initiatives
• Assist with business projects, integrations and change programmes
• Develop strong working relationships across finance and wider business functions
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting, controls and finance processes
About You
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
• Previous experience within financial accounting, audit, group reporting or financial control in the UK
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102)
• Experience working within a UK based organisation, ideally within professional services or a multi-entity environment
• ERP system experience (SAP advantageous but not essential)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
• Confident communicator with the ability to build stakeholder relationships at all levels
• Available to start immediately or at short notice
