Head of Accounts - West Hampstead - £50,000 - £70,000 DOE
Our client, a well-respected estate agency that have been operating for over 20 years are looking for a Head of Accounts to manage and oversee in growing day-to-day functions of the accounts department. You will be working closely with the Directors to implement processes and grow the team out.
Responsibilities:
• Full responsibility for the day-to-day management of approximately 70 residential service charge portfolios.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for all managed developments.
• Ensure compliance with lease provisions, RICS guidance and company procedures.
• Review financial performance across all developments.
• Produce income and expenditure reports.
• Reconcile all service charge bank accounts monthly.
• Reconcile reserve fund balances.
• Investigate and resolve unreconciled balances.
• Process journals including accruals, prepayments, and correcting journals.
• Maintain accurate opening balances for newly acquired developments.
• Complete month-end accounting processes.
• Assist Property Managers with budgeting queries.
• Produce budget versus actual variance reports.
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
• Pay weekly payment runs.
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations.
• Monitor daily bank balances.
• Allocate receipts correctly.
• Resolve banking discrepancies.
• Process refunds.
• Allocate leaseholder receipts.
• Assist Property Managers with arrears information.
• Produce statements for solicitors and leaseholders.
• Prepare year-end working papers.
• Produce supporting schedules.
• Prepare accountant information packs.
• Liaise with external accountants.
• Respond to year-end audit/accountant queries.
• Review draft service charge accounts.
• Respond to leaseholder accounting queries.
• Respond to director and freeholder financial enquiries.
• Resolve billing queries.
• Investigate historic balances.
• Implement processes to support efficiency of the team
Skills and Experience Required:
• AAT or ACCA qualified
• Minimum 2 years' experience with Xero and Block Management
• Experience in a similar role in the property industry
• Ability to manage a team
• Ability to use own initiative
• The ability to work in a team as well as individually
• Confidence to communicate effectively and efficiently
Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 DOE
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 9am - 6pm, Fridays finish at 5:30pm, Office Based
