Head of Design - 9 Month FTC

We're supporting a growing and highly creative consumer products business in Ferndown looking to appoint an experienced Head of Design to lead and elevate their creative function. This is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for driving creative strategy, design innovation, operational excellence, and commercial impact across multiple product categories. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll oversee the delivery of high-quality, retail-ready creative output while leading and developing a multi-disciplinary design team. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on leadership, ensuring creative excellence is delivered efficiently, commercially, and in line with evolving market trends. Key Responsibilities: * Lead creative strategy and execution across design, artwork, packaging, and copy * Drive trend forecasting and translate insights into commercially successful products * Oversee creative workflows, approvals, deadlines, and production processes * Ensure consistency, accuracy, and high visual standards across all output * Manage and develop creative, artwork, and design teams * Collaborate with product, commercial, operations, and compliance teams * Improve creative efficiency, resource planning, and process optimisation * Present concepts, creative direction, and visual strategies to stakeholders * Support innovation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives * Manage creative budgets, reporting, and departmental performance Requirements: * Proven senior leadership experience within creative, packaging, product, or retail design * Strong background managing multi-disciplinary creative teams * Commercially aware with the ability to balance creativity and operational delivery * Experience within trend forecasting, branding, packaging, and retail presentation * Strong stakeholder management and communication skills * Experience implementing scalable creative systems and approval processes * Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and design tools * Strategic mindset with a hands-on and collaborative leadership style What's on Offer: * Opportunity to lead and shape a growing creative function * Senior leadership position within an ambitious and fast-paced business * Collaborative and innovative working environment * Long-term progression and strategic influence across the business * Opportunity to work on varied and commercially impactful projects This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced creative leader looking to make a significant impact within a growing and forward-thinking organisation.
