HGV Diagnostic Technician
Location: Brierley Hill
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £22 - £30 per hour (dependent on experience)
Our client, a respected vehicle business based in Brierley Hill, is looking to recruit an experienced HGV Diagnostic Technician to join their skilled workshop team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable technician with strong diagnostic experience who is looking to work in a professional commercial vehicle environment. You will be responsible for identifying, diagnosing and repairing complex faults across a range of heavy goods vehicles, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable and operating to the highest standards.
The Role
As an HGV Diagnostic Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and repairing a modern commercial vehicle fleet. You will use your technical knowledge and diagnostic expertise to accurately identify faults, complete repairs, and support the wider workshop team.
Key Responsibilities
• Carry out advanced diagnostics and fault-finding on HGV vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
• Complete repairs and rectification work efficiently and to a high standard.
• Investigate complex vehicle issues and provide effective solutions.
• Carry out servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance when required.
• Support other technicians with technical advice and fault diagnosis.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with industry standards.
• Complete accurate job sheets and maintain detailed repair records.
• Keep up to date with the latest vehicle technologies and diagnostic systems.
About You
The successful candidate will:
• Have proven experience working as an HGV Technician, HGV Diagnostic Technician or similar role.
• Have strong diagnostic and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Be confident working with modern HGV systems and diagnostic equipment.
• Have excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Be able to work independently and as part of a skilled workshop team.
• Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.
• Be reliable, professional and safety-focused.
Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, IRTEC, or manufacturer training would be advantageous.
What's on Offer
• £22 - £30 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.
• Approximate salary range of £51,480 - £70,200 per annum (based on a 45 hour week)
