HGV Technician

We are recruiting for a HGV Technician to join our client’s busy commercial vehicle workshop in Southampton, Hampshire. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician seeking a stable, rewarding career within a leading UK dealership group. The role involves working on a fleet of HGVs, maintaining operational efficiency, and providing essential roadside support. Benefits: • Basic salary of £48,600 per year • Overtime available, earning up to £19.50 per hour depending on shift worked • 48-hour week, 4 days on 4 days off, from 06:00 to 18:00 (days) • Continuous manufacturer-approved training programmes • 22 days holiday, increasing with service • Additional days off for your birthday • Reward and recognition schemes, including annual awards • Annual appraisals and career progression opportunities • Employee wellbeing support Duties of a HGV Technician: • Diagnosing and repairing vehicles according to manufacturer standards • Carrying out servicing, repairs, and fault diagnosis on HGVs • Roadside breakdown assistance and call-outs • Conducting vehicle inspections and MOT preparation/presentation • Performing vehicle fault diagnosis and defect repairs • Ensuring all work is completed within standard times • Accurate completion of all relevant paperwork Requirements of a HGV Technician: • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds qualification or equivalent as a HGV Technician • Proven experience working on HGVs or Commercial Vehicles • Strong organisational skills and technical knowledge • Ability to use own initiative and work independently • Full UK Driving Licence; HGV licence is advantageous • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team • Eligibility to work within the UK Contact Kinga Csipetics, Automotive Recruitment Specialist at Perfect Placement covering Southampton and Hampshire, today to discover more about this fantastic HGV Technician opportunity.
