HGV2 Driver

HGV Class 2 Driver – Croydon £18.57 per hour | Minimum 10 paid hours per day | Permanent This is AFR is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing and environmentally focused organisation operating within the commercial waste and recycling sector. We are seeking a reliable and proactive HGV Class 2 Driver to complete commercial collection routes across Greater London. You will predominantly work independently, operating specialist vehicles while maintaining strong safety, compliance and customer-service standards. Working Pattern • Monday to Friday • Early starts between 3:00am and 4:00am • Minimum of 10 paid hours per working day • Alternate Saturdays available and paid at the overtime rate Pay and Benefits • £18.57 per hour • Approximately £48,282 basic annual earnings before overtime and bonus • Overtime paid at £24.76 per hour • Performance bonus of up to £2,000 per annum Key Responsibilities • Complete commercial collection routes across Greater London • Operate Class 2 vehicles and specialist collection equipment safely • Carry out daily vehicle checks and promptly report any defects • Complete approximately 25–30 collections, depending on the route • Maintain accurate collection and compliance records • Follow Driver CPC, tachograph and working-time regulations • Deliver a professional service when attending customer sites • Communicate effectively with the transport and operations teams Essential Requirements • Valid UK HGV Class 2 licence • Valid Driver CPC • Valid Digital Tachograph Card • Right to work in the UK • Comfortable with early starts, solo driving and physically active duties • Safe, reliable and customer-focused approach Desirable Experience • At least two years’ HGV driving experience • HGV Class 1 licence • No more than six points on your driving licence • Previous waste, recycling or multi-drop collection experience What’s Offered • Secure, permanent employment • Full route and vehicle training • Supported onboarding alongside an experienced driver • All required PPE provided • Holiday entitlement and wider company benefits • Regular overtime opportunities • The opportunity to join a growing organisation making a positive environmental impact
