The RoleWe are looking to recruit motivated and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or severe learning difficulties. Working alongside teachers and multidisciplinary professionals, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality learning experiences, helping pupils achieve their academic, social, and developmental goals. You will be confident leading learning activities and supporting lessons while maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment. Essential Requirements • HLTA status or an equivalent Level 4 qualification. • Proven experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or severe learning difficulties. • Experience delivering lessons and structured learning activities under the direction of teaching staff. • Good understanding of SEN strategies and support tools, including visual timetables, sensory-based approaches, and alternative communication methods. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. • A patient, compassionate, and consistent approach to supporting pupils. Desirable Requirements • Team Teach certification or experience using positive behaviour support strategies. • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities within specialist education settings.
