To independently perform and report
complex adult echocardiograms in line with BSE and departmental guidelines and
appropriately escalate findings contributing to timely diagnosis and management
of cardiovascular disease.
To provide technical support to
Cardiologists in specialist services such as Stress Echo and TOE. Training will
be provided if necessary.
To
provide education, training and development for all aspects of the service to
junior members of staff and registrars.
To advise junior medical staff on
the availability, selection and appropriateness of test procedures
To
practise with a high level of skill and autonomy a range of other cardiac
physiology procedures and be expected to perform them if required.
To communicate complex instructions
and clinical information effectively to all categories of patients, ensuring
co-operation and compliance to obtain accurate technical and clinical data
To visual and verbal risk-assess
every patient prior to carrying out any clinical investigations.
To initiate Basic Life Support and
Immediate Life Support (ILS) when required
To ensure safe use of specialist / diagnostic
equipment used by self and others
To report all untoward events or
uncertainties to the Head of Department
To work at all times in a safe and
responsible manner
