Job description

I am delighted to be partnering with a leading international engineering and project management organisation as they continue to strengthen their People function with the appointment of an experienced People Business Partner. This is an opportunity to join a business that plays a critical role in delivering complex, high-value programmes across highly regulated sectors. With a strong focus on innovation, sustainability and long-term growth, the organisation is seeking a commercially minded HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, consultative environment and can confidently partner with senior leaders to drive people outcomes. As a trusted People Business Partner, you will work closely with senior stakeholders to shape and deliver people strategy, influence decision-making and provide expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle. This is a true business partnering role, combining strategic influence with hands-on delivery. You will be the go-to expert for complex employee relations matters, organisational change, workforce planning and people initiatives, helping leaders navigate challenges while ensuring best practice and compliance are embedded throughout the business. The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on both business performance and employee experience. Day to Day • Partner with senior leaders to deliver people plans aligned to business objectives. • Provide commercially focused HR advice and challenge to stakeholders at all levels. • Lead and manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence management, restructures, redundancy and TUPE matters. • Support organisational change initiatives, workforce planning and transformation programmes. • Analyse people data and trends to inform strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement. • Drive consistency and continuous improvement across HR processes, policies and practices. • Coach and support managers to build leadership capability and effective people management skills. • Contribute to wider people projects, including organisational design, talent initiatives, ED&I programmes and process optimisation. • Champion the use of technology, data and emerging tools, including AI, to enhance people services and business outcomes. You? You will be an experienced HR professional who combines strong technical expertise with exceptional stakeholder management skills. Comfortable operating autonomously, you will be confident handling sensitive and high-risk situations while maintaining credibility with senior leaders. We are particularly interested in individuals who have developed their HR career within consultancy, engineering, infrastructure, nuclear or other highly regulated project-based environments, where balancing commercial priorities with people risk is essential. Essential Experience • CIPD Level 7 qualified and Chartered CIPD member (or equivalent). • Proven experience operating as a senior HR or People Business Partner. • Extensive employee relations expertise, including independently managing complex and sensitive cases. • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application. • Experience supporting organisational change, restructures and transformation initiatives. • Ability to influence, coach and challenge senior stakeholders effectively. • Strong analytical capability with experience using people data to support decision-making. • Excellent communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills. What's on Offer? • £75,000 base salary. • £5,000 car allowance. • Hybrid working with regular presence in a modern Central London office (Covent Garden). • Opportunity to partner with senior leadership and shape strategic people outcomes. • Exposure to complex, meaningful projects within a growing international business. • A collaborative culture where innovation, expertise and continuous improvement are genuinely valued. If you're an experienced People Business Partner looking for a role that combines strategic influence, complex employee relations, organisational change and genuine business impact, I would be keen to speak with you! 51960CC INDLON The Portfolio Group are acting on behalf of our client in recruiting for this position.
