HR Consultant – Job Evaluation Role Overview Position: HR Consultant (Job Evaluation Focus) Salary: £42,839 pa Location: Mostly remote, 1 day per week on-site Contract: Permanent A Local Authority in the South West are seeking a skilled HR Consultant with a specialist focus on Job Evaluation to join their Workforce and Change team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will help to ensure employment practices remain fair, transparent, and aligned with modern frameworks. You will assist in shaping clear people policies while providing high-quality advice across the wider organisation. Key Responsibilities • Lead and support job evaluation activity, ensuring all roles are assessed fairly, consistently, and in line with established frameworks • Advise managers on role design, grading outcomes, and formal job evaluation processes • Utilise role and workforce data to inform pay, grading, and structural organisational decisions • Support the maintenance and development of job evaluation frameworks and documentation • Use role and workforce data to inform pay, grading and organisational decisions • Autonomously manage a wide-ranging employee relations caseload, including absence management, disciplinaries, grievances, restructures, and TUPE transfers Requirements • Proven experience within a local government environment is required for this role • Chartered Member of the CIPD, or equivalent demonstrable experience with a commitment to achieving Chartered status • Strong background in job evaluation frameworks such as GLPC, NJC or Hay alongside a solid track record of independently managing complex employee relations casework • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the comfort to challenge assumptions constructively How to Apply Should this position be of interest to you, please apply or send an email with an updated copy of your CV to and myself or a member of the team will give you a call to discuss further.
