Job description

Time Appointments are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established client based in Ipswich, who are currently seeking to appoint an Import Clerk to strengthen their team. Key Duties: • Prepare and organise import documentation, including customs declarations, import licences, and shipping documents, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and complete. • Maintain accurate import records and verify documentation to support compliance and operational efficiency. • Support the import team in complying with import regulations, trade laws, and customs requirements while keeping up to date with changes in legislation and procedures. • Coordinate with customs brokers, suppliers, freight forwarders, and other external partners to facilitate smooth import operations. • Monitor and track import shipments, ensuring the timely arrival of goods and proactively resolving any delivery or customs-related issues. Skills & Experience Required: • Demonstrated experience in import operations, including preparing and submitting customs documentation, certificates, licences, and other import-related paperwork. • Sound knowledge of customs tariffs and their application to import processes. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. • Highly organised and quick to learn, with the ability to prioritise workloads, work under pressure, and consistently meet tight deadlines. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and adapt effectively to unexpected challenges. • Good understanding of customs procedures and import compliance requirements, with knowledge of customs tariffs considered an advantage.
