Information Governance Officer £14.59 per hour Full-Time (37 hours per week) Hybrid working - One day in the office in Reading About the Role We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Information Governance Assistant to join a local authority on a temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in data protection, information governance, and compliance. Working closely with the Information Governance Manager, you will provide administrative support to help ensure the Council meets its obligations under UK GDPR, Data Protection legislation, and Transparency Code requirements. Key Responsibilities • Support the Information Governance Manager with day-to-day information governance activities. • Monitor and maintain the Council’s Transparency Code information on the website. • Assist colleagues across the organisation with basic information governance enquiries. • Liaise with internal departments, external organisations, and regulatory bodies, including the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). • Support the preparation, monitoring, and tracking of data protection and UK GDPR requests. • Maintain accurate records and documentation. • Work to statutory deadlines and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. About You • Previous administrative experience in an office environment. • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information. • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. • An understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection, or Information Governance principles would be advantageous but is not essential.
