Job description

Laboratory Technician Location: Bretby Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour Hours: 39 hours per week Working Days: Tuesday to Saturday Shift Pattern: Following completion of training, working hours will be allocated on a rota basis and may range between 6:00am and 9:00pm. About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable and motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team in Burton upon Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience or a scientific background who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced laboratory environment. The successful candidate will support daily laboratory operations, ensuring samples are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Key Responsibilities • Prepare, process, and analyse samples in accordance with laboratory procedures. • Carry out routine laboratory testing and record results accurately. • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure work areas are clean and organised. • Prepare reagents, solutions, and other laboratory materials as required. • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and health & safety guidelines. • Accurately document laboratory activities and test results. • Assist with quality control activities and ensure compliance with laboratory standards. • Support the wider laboratory team with general laboratory duties. • Report any equipment issues, non-conformities, or safety concerns to management. Requirements • Previous laboratory experience is desirable. • Qualification in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Biomedical Science, Laboratory Science or similar) is advantageous. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Good organisational and time management skills. • Ability to follow procedures and work independently. • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns.
