Compliance Officer (Legal)
Manchester City Centre | Hybrid Working | Full-Time | Permanent

We're working with a well-established claimant law firm looking to appoint an experienced Compliance Officer to support its Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP). This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in the day-to-day compliance and risk management activities that keep a busy litigation practice running smoothly.

The RoleWorking alongside the COLP, you'll play a key part in ensuring the firm continues to meet its regulatory obligations while supporting wider risk management initiatives across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting the management of complaints, professional negligence claims, data subject access requests and related matters
• Assisting with regulatory compliance and helping identify, monitor and reduce risk across the firm
• Carrying out AML and client due diligence checks in line with firm procedures
• Maintaining compliance records and central risk registers, including complaints and professional indemnity notifications
• Assisting with file audits and compliance reviews
• Working closely with internal business support teams on compliance-related projects
• Researching regulatory developments and helping implement changes where required
• Keeping up to date with changes in legal regulation, compliance requirements and best practice
About YouYou'll be organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced legal environment. You'll also be confident communicating with colleagues at all levels, including senior management.
We're looking for someone with:
• At least two years' experience within a litigation environment
• Previous experience supporting legal compliance or risk management functions
• A good understanding of SRA regulations and the professional standards governing law firms
• Knowledge of AML, client due diligence and wider regulatory compliance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and sound organisational skills
• Confidence using case management systems (experience with Proclaim would be beneficial)
• Housing litigation or housing disrepair experience would be advantageous but isn't essential
• Good IT skills and the ability to work across multiple systems
