School Librarian - Southeast LondonWe are seeking a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic School Librarian to join a welcoming school in Southeast London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about reading, literacy, and creating a positive learning environment for students. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the school library, maintaining and organising library resources, supporting students and staff with book selection and research, and promoting a love of reading through engaging displays, activities, and events. Key Responsibilities • Manage the daily operation of the school library. • Catalogue, organise, and maintain books and other learning resources. • Support students in developing research and independent learning skills. • Encourage reading for pleasure through library initiatives and events. • Assist teachers in sourcing appropriate resources to support the curriculum. • Maintain a welcoming, safe, and organised library environment. • Monitor book loans and returns using the school's library management system. Requirements • Previous experience working in a library, school, or similar educational setting is desirable. • Excellent organisational and communication skills. • A proactive and approachable attitude. • Good IT skills and the ability to manage library systems. • A genuine passion for literacy and supporting young people. • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.
