Logistics and Distribution Manager
Location: Tonbridge. Office-based (Monday–Friday)

About the Role
Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking a confident and hands-on Logistics & Distribution Manager to take ownership of their distribution function. This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to shape processes, drive efficiency, and build strong operational relationships across the supply chain.
The successful candidate will oversee a small team (6), a dedicated fleet and manage third-party logistics partners, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery of goods.
Key Responsibilities
• Operational Leadership
• Manage and optimise daily logistics and distribution activities
• Oversee a small in-house fleet, ensuring compliance, utilisation, and performance
• Take a hands-on approach when required (“muck in”) to support the team
• Team Management
• Lead, motivate and develop a small logistics team
• Demonstrate strong man-management skills with the ability to delegate effectively
• Foster a positive and productive working environment
• Distribution & Cost Control
• Create, maintain and review distribution tariffs and pricing structures
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining service levels
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• 3PL Management
• Act as the primary point of contact for third-party logistics providers
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners
• Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met and performance is regularly reviewed
• Process Improvement
• Implement and refine logistics processes to support business growth
• Ensure compliance with all relevant transport and health & safety regulations
Key Requirements
• Proven experience in a Logistics, Distribution, or Transport Manager role
• Strong man-management experience, with the personality & ability to lead and develop teams
• Hands-on approach with a willingness to support operational tasks when needed
• Experience creating and managing distribution tariffs/pricing
• Demonstrated experience working with and managing 3PL providers
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Confident decision-maker with the ability to delegate effectively
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
