Job description

Logistics Manager – Food Manufacturing & DistributionWe are seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee and coordinate all logistics operations within a busy food manufacturing and distribution environment. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient and cost-effective movement of goods from order receipt through to final delivery, while maintaining exceptional customer service and operational performance. Working closely with internal departments and external logistics partners, you will take ownership of transport, warehousing, stock control, and customer deliveries across multiple sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on logistics professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment. Key ResponsibilitiesLogistics Operations Management • Oversee and continuously improve end-to-end logistics processes. • Ensure logistics activities are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with operational objectives. • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for process improvement. Issue Resolution • Act as the primary escalation point for all logistics-related issues. • Resolve transport, warehousing, and inventory challenges quickly and effectively. • Proactively minimise disruption to customers and operations. Live Operations Monitoring • Monitor daily logistics activity, warehouse throughput, and inbound/outbound movements. • Identify delays, risks, and capacity issues, implementing corrective actions where required. • Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders on operational performance. Transport & Logistics Coordination • Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics activity, including customer deliveries, supplier collections, and inter-site stock transfers. • Manage relationships with transport providers, hauliers, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners. • Ensure transport solutions are cost-effective and meet service level requirements. Inter-Site Transfers • Coordinate stock movements between sites efficiently and accurately. • Confirm warehouse capacity and schedule transfers appropriately. • Ensure timely completion of all inter-site movements. Planning & Scheduling • Maintain and update logistics schedules and planning systems. • Ensure all logistics activity is accurately recorded and aligned with business priorities. • Support workforce and resource planning to maximise operational efficiency. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Warehouse teams. • Ensure seamless coordination of logistics activities across the business. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational projects. Additional Responsibilities • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the logistics function and wider business objectives. Candidate Requirements • Educated to A-Level or Degree standard (or equivalent experience). • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, transport, supply chain or distribution. • Strong operational understanding of warehouse and transport logistics. • Experience managing or coordinating multiple stakeholders and external partners. • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure. • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
