Job description

Your Company: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Management Accountant to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Poole. This is a key finance position within the organisation, ideally suited to an individual with strong manufacturing accounting experience, excellent commercial awareness, and a thorough understanding of product costing, financial reporting, and manufacturing processes. The business operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, producing high-quality products for a broad customer base across multiple sectors. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy of product costing, analysing manufacturing performance, and providing meaningful commercial reporting to support strategic decision-making. Working closely with finance, operations, production, and supply chain teams, you will help drive profitability, improve costing processes, and deliver valuable financial insight across the business. Key Responsibilities: While in this position your duties will include, but are not limited to: • Managing the end-to-end product costing process across all manufactured products • Maintaining and reviewing standard costs, ensuring they accurately reflect manufacturing operations • Preparing detailed cost variance analysis and investigating material, labour, and overhead variances • Producing regular commercial and financial reports to support senior management decision-making • Partnering closely with production, operations, procurement, and supply chain teams to understand manufacturing performance and identify cost-saving opportunities • Supporting the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities • Monitoring inventory valuations and assisting with stock reconciliations and physical inventory counts • Assisting with month-end management accounts, including manufacturing cost analysis and journal preparation • Reviewing manufacturing processes to identify efficiencies and improve cost control measures • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across finance and manufacturing functions • Ensuring financial controls and costing procedures remain accurate and compliant with company policies • Providing financial analysis and commercial insight to support new product development and operational projects What You Will Need to Apply: The successful candidate will have previous experience within a Cost Accountant, Management Accountant, or similar finance role within a manufacturing environment. In addition, the ideal candidate will demonstrate: • Strong experience in manufacturing cost accounting and product costing • A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations • Experience preparing commercial reporting, financial analysis, and management information • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP or manufacturing finance systems • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships across finance and operational teams • A proactive and detail-oriented approach with strong organisational skills • A relevant accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) or qualified by experience would be advantageous What You Will Receive in Return: A highly competitive salary of up to £60,000 per annum is available for the successful candidate, depending on experience.
