Job description
We're recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing Supervisor to join a busy, fast-paced manufacturing operation. This is a hands-on, shop floor-based leadership role where you'll be responsible for leading a large production team, driving operational performance, and creating a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
As Manufacturing Supervisor, you will provide day-to-day leadership across the production area, ensuring that people, processes, and performance are aligned to deliver operational excellence.
You'll be visible on the shop floor, supporting your team, coaching individuals, removing barriers to productivity, and ensuring production plans are achieved safely and efficiently.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Lead, motivate and develop a large production team to achieve safety, quality, delivery and productivity targets.
• Maintain a strong shop floor presence, providing clear leadership and direction throughout each shift.
• Drive a positive culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Manage team performance through coaching, mentoring, regular feedback and performance reviews.
• Plan and allocate labour effectively to meet changing production demands.
• Ensure all production activities comply with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Monitor production performance using KPIs and take proactive action to resolve issues.
• Investigate production challenges, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing principles, identifying and delivering continuous improvement initiatives.
• Reduce waste, improve efficiency and support improvements in quality and productivity.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Planning and Supply Chain teams to achieve operational objectives.
• Support training, onboarding and ongoing development of production colleagues.
• Ensure high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation through 5S principles.
The Ideal Candidate
• Previous experience in a Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Supervisor or Shift Supervisor position within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience managing and motivating large production teams.
• Excellent people management, coaching and communication skills.
• A hands-on leadership style with a strong presence on the shop floor.
• Good knowledge and practical application of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience delivering Continuous Improvement initiatives.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience using production KPIs to drive operational performance.
• A proactive, organised and resilient approach in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
