Our client, a leading player in the aerospace sector, is currently seeking a Materials Operations Manager for a contract position at their facility near Faer. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee material flow, inventory accuracy, and production scheduling within a dynamic plant environment.
This is a 6 month inside IR35
Key Responsibilities:
• Accountable for all direct material on site and the management of subcontractor/outside processing (OSP).
• Manage end-to-end material flow and inventory transactions to support plant operations using lean material handling principles.
• Ensure accurate, timely movement of materials across receiving, stores, production, and shipping.
• Maintain target inventory levels to meet internal and external customer requirements.
• Meet on-time delivery (OTD) goals and freight targets, including premium freight.
• Execute short-term production schedules and align with network plans for labour loading, capacity utilisation, and shopfloor readiness.
• Oversee material staging, replenishment, kitting, and production floor flow processes.
• Ensure shipping accuracy, timeliness, documentation, and compliance with customer delivery requirements.
Job Requirements:
• Extensive experience in materials management, production control, or plant operations within the aerospace sector.
• Strong understanding of ERP systems, inventory transactions, and production scheduling.
• Knowledge of lean material flow principles, continuous improvement, and root-cause analysis.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive operational performance.
• Experience in maintaining data integrity for ERP and related systems, including inventory transactions, shipping records, and production schedules.
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for transactional errors.
Responsibilities & Coordination:
• Partner with Network Planners for alignment between short-term plant execution and network supply plans.
• Coordinate with Operations, Quality, Customer Service, Engineering, and Centre of Excellence (CoE) buyers on material and schedule-related issues.
• Support ProLaunch coordination for new product introductions, engineering changes, or tooling needs.
• Provide real-time operational updates to leadership on risks, attainment, and material availability.
