Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer Salary: £45,000–£50,000 Depending on Experience Location: Portland, Dorset Join a growing engineering organisation delivering deployable infrastructure solutions for defence, government and remote operations worldwide. You will work across the full design lifecycle, developing innovative systems that progress from concept through manufacture, integration and deployment. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and the on-site integration facility, you will play a key role in creating practical, high-quality engineering solutions while seeing your designs brought to life in real-world applications. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and technical drawings • Support design analysis and validation activities, including FEA where required • Create and manage Bills of Materials and technical documentation • Support designs through manufacture, integration and delivery • Work closely with suppliers, project teams and the on-site integration facility • Contribute to technical proposals, tenders and project delivery activities Requirements: • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline • Experience working in a mechanical design engineering role in a highly regulated industry • Strong 3D CAD experience, Autodesk Inventor preferred • Experience supporting designs through to manufacture or delivery • Knowledge of BS and ISO standards • Experience with Bills of Materials and technical documentation • Supplier management and RFQ experience would be highly desirable • Experience working on international projects would be beneficial Benefits: 25 days annual leave, Private Medical Insurance (BUPA), life assurance (3.5x salary), pension scheme, salary sacrifice schemes including eBike and electric vehicle programmes, wellbeing support, and excellent opportunities for career development.
