Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Bolton, Bromley Cross
Salary: Up to £18.00 per hour + Overtime + Working Away Uplift
Shift: Days (Field-Based)

The Opportunity
A well-established and growing engineering business operating within the utilities sector is looking to strengthen its field team with the addition of an experienced Mechanical Fitter.
This is a key hire with a clear succession plan in place, offering the opportunity to step into a senior, hands-on position and play a pivotal role in delivering critical work across UK infrastructure projects.
The Role
• Lead a 2-person field team as the Mechanical Fitter on-site
• Carry out installation, maintenance and repair work on wastewater treatment facilities
• Take ownership of jobs from start to completion, ensuring high standards and efficiency
• Work closely with an experienced engineer
• Operate across multiple sites, with a strong focus on the utilities / wastewater sector
• Occasional working away (typically 3–4 days per week at times, with some longer stints during peak periods)
Requirements
• 10+ years’ experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar
• Strong mechanical “hands-on” background
• Confident fault-finding and problem-solving ability in the field
• Experience with:
• Lifting & cranage operations
• Working at height
• Confined spaces
• Comfortable working in wastewater / utilities environments (majority of work)
• Engineering qualification (apprenticeship / NVQ / equivalent) desirable
