Job description

Visual Arts Tutor (Film & Media) • Location: East London • Salary: £34,000–£38,000 FTE (£27,200–£30,400 pro rata) • Job Type: Part-time (0.8 FTE, 4 days per week) • Contract: Permanent • Start Date: 17 August 2026 Our college is seeking a passionate and industry-informed Visual Arts Tutor (Film & Media) to join our creative teaching team in Walthamstow. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative educator or industry practitioner to inspire young people aged 16–19 and help shape the next generation of talent in the creative industries. Day-to-day of the role: • Plan and deliver high-quality teaching across Visual Arts programmes, with a particular emphasis on Film, Graphics, and Photography. • Assess and track student progress through formative and summative methods. • Provide pastoral and tutorial support to learners. • Contribute to course development and curriculum planning. • Support enrichment activities, trips, and employer engagement. • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and achievement. • Promote safeguarding, equality, and positive student behaviour. Required Skills & Qualifications: • Essential: • Degree in a Visual Arts-related subject. • Experience teaching or working with 16–19 learners. • Strong practical skills across Visual Arts disciplines. • Ability to deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment. • Understanding of safeguarding and supporting young people. • Desirable: • Teaching qualification (or working towards one). • Industry experience in Film, Media, Graphics, or Photography. • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud. • Experience supporting student progress, attendance, and wellbeing.
