Medical Engineering Technician

The Medical Engineering Technician post is a key role within the Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS), providing essential technical support to ensure the safe, effective, and compliant use of medical devices across the Trust, with a particular focus on the Endoscopy and Diagnostic Centre at PRUH. The post holder will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of medical equipment, including acceptance testing, commissioning, routine servicing, fault diagnosis, repair, calibration, and disposal. This role is critical in ensuring that medical devices are maintained to the highest safety and performance standards, directly supporting frontline clinical services and patient care. The post holder will undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with agreed schedules, ensuring equipment reliability and minimising the risk of failure or disruption to clinical activity. They will be required to diagnose and resolve complex technical faults using specialised test equipment and manufacturer service manuals, ensuring that all repairs are completed efficiently and in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines. In addition, the role involves electrical safety testing and performance verification to ensure full compliance with regulatory and safety requirements. A key aspect of the role is supporting clinical teams by attending clinical areas to carry out repairs and servicing, often within time-sensitive environments.
