Duties of the Minor Illness Clinician will include: Assessing and deciding the treatment plan for acute minor illness presentations such as • Urinary tract infections (UTIs) • Respiratory tract infections (URTI/LRTI) • Sore throats • Ear symptoms b. Develop, implement and embed health promotion and well-being programmes c. Provide a triage service, actively managing or referring patients or treating patients within own scope of practice d. Provide routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and the NSF e. Provide wound care (ulcer /Doppler etc.) to patients f. Request pathology services as necessary, processing and interpreting results as required g. Refer patients directly to other services as appropriate h. Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with extant legislation i. Ensure read codes are used effectively j. Prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately k.
