Job Title: MLD Teaching Assistant Location: Sheffield (Various Specialist Schools) Contract Type: Temporary (Term-Time Only, Monday-Friday) Pay Rate: £92.56 - £110 per day (inclusive of holiday pay) Higher rates available dependent on experience, qualifications, and client budget. Agency: Academics Support. Enable. Progress. Academics is seeking dedicated and patient MLD Teaching Assistants to join our team across Sheffield's specialist provisions. This role is perfect for those who understand that children with moderate learning difficulties need creative, consistent, and compassionate support to unlock their potential. What You'll Do: • Provide targeted in-class support to pupils with MLD, helping them access a differentiated curriculum. • Deliver small-group and 1:1 interventions to boost literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. • Use positive behaviour strategies to build confidence, independence, and social interaction. • Work closely with class teachers to adapt resources and activities to meet individual learning styles. • Support pupils with associated needs such as speech & language delays, dyslexia, or mild physical coordination difficulties. • Contribute to EHCP reviews and progress tracking, feeding back to the SENCO and wider team. What We're Looking For: • Minimum Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent relevant experience in education, youth work, or care). • Proven experience supporting children or young people with moderate learning difficulties, SEMH, or additional needs. • Strong understanding of differentiation, phonics, and adaptive teaching strategies. • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient approach. • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply). • Two professional references covering your most recent employment.
