New to General Practice Nurse

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care to patients within the practice. Duties will include, but are not limited to: • Undertaking a wide range of treatment room procedures, including wound care and dressings, suture and clip removal, ear irrigation (where appropriately trained), injections and vaccinations. • Delivering NHS immunisation programmes, including seasonal influenza, pneumococcal, shingles and travel vaccinations (where competent). • Performing cervical screening in accordance with the NHS Cervical Screening Programme. • Carrying out health promotion activities and providing lifestyle advice to support patients in managing their health and wellbeing. • Undertaking NHS Health Checks and other preventative health assessments as required. • Performing venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, urinalysis and other routine clinical observations. • Supporting the management of patients with long-term conditions through monitoring, recall and agreed protocols, working within scope of practice. • Recognising, assessing and responding appropriately to patients presenting with acute or deteriorating conditions, escalating concerns where necessary. • Maintaining accurate, timely and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system. • Ensuring infection prevention and control standards are maintained, including the safe handling and disposal of clinical waste and sharps. • Maintaining clinical equipment, monitoring stock levels and supporting the ordering of clinical supplies where required. • Participating in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and service development. • Working collaboratively with GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, General Practice Assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. • Contributing to the achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF), Enhanced Services and other contractual requirements where appropriate. • Maintaining professional registration, mandatory training and continuing professional development in line with NMC requirements. • Working in accordance with practice policies, procedures, national guidance and the NMC Code at all times. • Undertakes early detection, prevention, and management of cardiovascular disease and other long-term conditions. • Takes a lead role in managing one specific long-term condition ("LTC") following structured mentorship and preceptorship. • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
