ROLE SUMMARY By playing this crucial leadership role, you will bring your knowledge and perspective to the forefront of YHPs decision making. Your visibility as a non-executive director will, with integrity, highlight your passion to provide a strong and unified voice for primary care whilst delivering tangible benefits for patients and our partners. You will drive collaborative and innovative solutions to address challenges facing the NHS and specifically, primary care. You will be integral in making change happen at the right time and in the right way and will use your skills to work towards achieving YHPs strategic goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership, Governance and Oversight Provide leadership for the strategic direction, performance, and governance of YHP Uphold the highest standards of integrity and nurture positive working relationships both internally and externally, and with our current and future partners Ensure that YHP complies with relevant legal, regulatory and statutory obligations Actively promote YHPs values Work with the Chair, Chief Executive Officer and the other Board members to create a culture that encourages visionary and innovative thinking and transformational action Support a positive culture in the Boardroom and across the organisation which welcomes constructive challenge to proposals Strategy and Sector Insight Actively participate in setting, evaluating and challenging YHPs long-term strategy Develop and apply your knowledge of the NHS and primary care for the benefit of YHP and the patients within our areas of operation Encourage and support service innovation Where appropriate, consult with and represent the views of patients, partners and agencies, including suppliers to NHS Bodies, regulatory bodies, the media and wider stakeholders Financial and Risk Management Maintain oversight of YHPs financial position, making the necessary decisions to ensure financial stability and quality service delivery Support the development of key performance indicators related to patient benefits and income Ensure resources are used effectively to deliver high levels of productivity and safety Ensure that appropriate internal controls and assurance processes are in place and actively monitored Maintain oversight of organisational risk, compliance, mitigation and safeguarding People, Culture and Leadership Provide oversight and support to the Chief Executive Officer Participate in the appointment and evaluation of senior staff members as appropriate Participate in the development of YHPs workforce strategy and recruitment planning As part of the Board, set the organisations remuneration and performance evaluation policies Support the shaping and monitoring of YHPs values and organisational culture Promote diversity and inclusion and support the development of trauma informed ways of working and inclusive leadership and decision-making Support colleagues in the exercising of their responsibilities • Where appropriate, consult with, and represent the views of the workforce to the Board Technology, Digital and Data Support the development of YHPs digital strategy and ensure oversight of digital transformation and investment Ensure that YHP meets its obligations with respect to data governance, privacy and cyber risk Stakeholder and External Engagement Actively engage with partners, shareholders, members, regulators, patients and community stakeholders to support accountability, collaboration and public value Advocate for YHP and the patients within our areas of operation Contribute towards organisational communications and reputation-building Community, Social and Environmental Impact Develop your knowledge of population health and support the development of YHPs services to meet local health needs Champion the needs of vulnerable and diverse communities, ensuring that their needs are considered and wherever possible met through the delivery of YHPs services Ensure YHP acts in an environmentally sustainable manner and contributes towards achievement of the ICB Green Plan and NHS net zero goal Personal Responsibilities • Diligently carry out any duties assigned to you by the Board • Promptly disclose full information relating to any direct or indirect interest in any matter being considered and/or voted on by the Board and comply with all requests to provide updates for the organisations Register of Interests • Comply with the companys Articles of Association as well as any statutory, fiduciary, or common-law duties to the Company • Act ethnically and independently, upholding the Nolan Principles • Be open challenge and challenge others constructively • Collaborate effectively with the Board and Executive Team • Commit adequate time and preparation to your role and engage fully with Board discussions • Use your best endeavours to promote, protect, develop and extend the business of YHP Job description Job responsibilities ROLE SUMMARY By playing this crucial leadership role, you will bring your knowledge and perspective to the forefront of YHPs decision making.
