Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist – Community RoleWe are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join a dedicated community children's therapy team on a 3-month locum contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled OT who is passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential within their everyday environments.
Role OverviewAs a Community Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will work with children and young people aged 0–19 years, carrying out comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and providing intervention recommendations across a range of community settings.
Your caseload will involve visiting:
• Mainstream and specialist schools
• Community clinics
• Other appropriate community settings as required
You will work collaboratively with families, educational staff, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
• Assess the occupational therapy needs of children and young people aged 0–19 years.
• Complete functional assessments and develop appropriate treatment plans and recommendations.
• Provide advice, strategies, and interventions to support participation in daily activities, education, and development.
• Produce accurate clinical documentation and reports.
• Liaise effectively with parents, carers, schools, and other professionals involved in the child's care.
• Maintain accurate patient records using the SystmOne clinical system.
Essential Requirements
• HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
• Previous experience working as a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist.
• Experience assessing and managing a paediatric caseload within community, school, or clinic settings.
• Knowledge and experience of using SystmOne.
• Full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle, as regular travel between schools and clinics is required.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
Contract Details
• Position: Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist
• Location: Community-based (schools and clinics)
• Contract Length: 3 months (with potential for extension)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
• Start Date: ASAP
