• Caring for paediatric and adult patients in the immediate postoperative period. • Maintaining a patent patient airway. • Escalating concerns regarding patient deterioration. • To be an autonomous practitioner to maintain good patient health while also administering prescribed care to prevent patient deterioration. • Administering analgesia to maintain patient comfort. • Being confident that patients meet discharge criteria. • Handing over ongoing care needs of the patient to the receiving areas on discharge from the unit. • Manual handling. • Documentation both written and on the relevant electronic systems.
