Qualifications
• 1st level Registered Nurse.
• Current NMC registration.
• Recognised teaching and assessing qualification
Experience
• Significant post-registration experience, ideally with experience in an acute area.
• Experience of caring for patients with pain management pumps such as PCA and epidural.
• Evidence of participating in the development of patient care.
Knowledge and Awareness
• Acute pain assessment and interventions, in particular analgesic drugs, PCA and epidural pumps.
• Current NHS publications relating to pain management.
• Ability to critique research and apply findings appropriately
• Demonstrate knowledge of teaching methods.
• Evidence of networking locally, regionally and nationally.
Skills and Abilities
• Manage time effectively and be able to prioritise workload.
• High level of communication skills in dealing with patients, relatives and colleagues.
• Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates leadership skills.
• Ability to motivate self and others.
• Evidence of effecting change in working practices.
