Panel Wirer

• Salary: £45k base, up to £60k with overtime
Join our clients' innovative team as a Panel Wirer, specialising in building and testing Custom Control Panels in Peterborough. This role is perfect for a skilled panel wirer with leadership aspirations, offering a chance to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment within the food industry.
Day-to-day of the role:
Panel Building and Testing (Workshop in Peterborough)
• Assemble mild and stainless steel control panel enclosures.
• Layout and assemble components on gear plates.
• Perform panel wiring up to 415VAC including 3-phase, flexibar wiring, and point-to-point panel wiring from schematics.
• Conduct pre-delivery electrical panel testing, fault finding, rectification, and verification.
On-Site Electrical Modifications (Requires Travel in the UK and Abroad)
• Retrofit and modify panels on-site, involving cabling and wiring in industrial settings, particularly food factories.
• Conduct on-site electrical testing and fault finding.
• Provide electrical support for IO test and commissioning.
• Work on live panels and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Electrical technical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation/Maintenance or a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ideally obtained during a formal apprenticeship.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in panel building and site modifications.
• Desire to lead a small team and potentially become deputy to the Production Manager.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of current electrical regulations and safety standards.
• Familiarity with drives, PLCs, and control gear.
• Flexible, self-motivated, and a team player.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally.

Additional Information:
• 60-70% of work conducted in the workshop, the remainder in the field.
• Increased site work during summer due to more shutdowns.
• Work hours in the workshop are from 7 AM to 4 PM or 6 PM.
• Overtime rates: 25% extra for weekdays and Saturdays, 50% extra for Sundays.
• Expected overnight stays are about 5/6 nights a month across the year.
