MacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting a part-time Senior Bookkeeper for a fantastic local company on the outskirts of Ipswich. Supporting a varied portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for month-end reconciliations, preparing profit and loss reports, submitting VAT and CIS returns, and supporting transactional finance activities. This role would suit an experienced finance professional seeking a flexible position of 20-25 hours per week within a collaborative and growing business.
Key tasks and responsibilities
• Prepare month-end reconciliations, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date.
• Produce profit and loss reports and other management information for clients.
• Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns accurately and on time.
• Support the processing and review of transactional finance activities, including sales and purchase ledger functions.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and client queries.
• Provide month end reporting and other periodic financial reporting requirements.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
• Support the implementation of efficient financial processes and controls.
• Provide administrative and financial support on ad hoc projects as required.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team.
Desirable qualifications and experience
• AAT qualified, part-qualified accountant, or qualified by experience.
• Experience in a Senior Bookkeeper, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and month-end processes.
• Experience producing profit and loss reports and supporting management reporting.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently.
• Confident communicator with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
• Able to work effectively within a small, collaborative team environment.
