Pastoral Support Worker (Secondary School) - Maternity CoverLocation: Hackney, East London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-Time, Maternity Cover (Until March 2027) Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate Pastoral Support Worker to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Hackney. This is a full-time maternity cover position, starting as soon as possible and continuing until March 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students overcome barriers to learning. The RoleAs a Pastoral Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students' wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development. Working closely with the school's pastoral team, teaching staff, parents, and external agencies, you will help ensure students are able to thrive both academically and emotionally. Key Responsibilities • Provide pastoral support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. • Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. • Support students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs. • Promote positive behaviour and assist in implementing behaviour management strategies. • Monitor attendance, punctuality, and student welfare. • Liaise with external agencies where appropriate. • Contribute to safeguarding and child protection procedures in line with school policies. • Support students in resolving conflicts and developing resilience and positive coping strategies. The Ideal Candidate • Essential: Previous experience working in a pastoral support role within a secondary school. • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to build positive relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds. • Calm, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting challenging behaviour. • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and safeguarding team.
