Payroll Administrator
Ayrshire | Full-Time | Office-Based
Temporary to Permanent Opportunity (Minimum 6 Months)
Are you an experienced Payroll Administrator looking for your next challenge within a fast-paced, high-volume payroll environment?
Our client, a well-established organisation based in the Ayrshire area, is seeking a skilled Payroll Administrator to join their busy payroll team on a temporary-to-permanent basis. This is a fully office-based role offering the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team following an initial temporary period of at least six months.
The Role
Working within a high-volume payroll function, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for approximately 1,300 employees. You will take ownership of the end-to-end processing of a single monthly payroll, ensuring all payroll activities are completed accurately, compliantly and within strict deadlines.
This position requires a proactive individual who can confidently manage complex payroll queries, carry out manual calculations, and work effectively under pressure in a busy environment.
Key Responsibilities
• End-to-end processing of a monthly payroll for approximately 1,300 employees
• Accurate calculation and processing of salaries, wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions and statutory payments
• Performing manual payroll calculations where required
• Processing starters, leavers and contractual changes
• Managing payroll queries from employees and key stakeholders
• Ensuring payroll records are maintained accurately and compliantly
• Supporting payroll reconciliations and audit requirements
• Working closely with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy
• Assisting with payroll reporting and system administration tasks
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
• Previous experience within a high-volume payroll environment
• Hands-on experience using Dayforce Payroll (essential)
• Experience managing end-to-end payroll processing for a large employee population
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and payroll processes
• Proven experience completing manual payroll calculations
• Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict payroll deadlines
• Confident communication skills and a customer-focused approach
• Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
