Payroll and Pensions Administrator – Job Description Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll and Pensions Administrator to manage payroll and pension activities across designated departments. This role is critical in ensuring accurate payroll processing, compliance with legislation, and timely reporting to occupational pension schemes. Working Hours: 09:00 – 17:00 Location: Colchester (CO4) Key Responsibilities • Manage payroll and pension administration for assigned departments • Ensure all payroll and pension inputs are accurate and comply with established guidelines and procedures • Process payroll transactions in line with current legislation and organisational policies • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and ensure data integrity • Support and deliver reporting requirements for occupational pension schemes • Ensure compliance with relevant payroll and pension regulations and statutory requirements • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve payroll and pension queries • Contribute to continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems Skills and Qualifications • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade A–D or equivalent) Experience • Proven experience in a similar payroll role • Experience working within a large payroll environment (500+ employees) • Strong knowledge of current payroll legislation and best practices • Experience using iTrent (beneficial) • Experience working with USS and/or SAUL pension schemes (desirable) • Knowledge of occupational pension schemes (desirable) Key Competencies • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy • Strong organisational and time management skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office applications If this is of interest reach out to me on
