Job description

Location: Barbican Centre, London, EC2Y 8DS (Hybrid Working) Job Type: Temporary (Initially until 31/12/26), part-time – 7 hours per day, 3 days per week The City of London Corporation are looking for an experienced People Advisor to join the People, Culture and Inclusion team at the Barbican Centre. The team works across the organisation to provide professional people support throughout the colleague lifecycle, helping managers and colleagues navigate recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, reward, and organisational change. Working closely with the Senior People Advisor and People Business Partners, you will support delivery of the People Plan and contribute to strategic people initiatives across the organisation. Day-to-day of the role: Recruitment & Selection • Advise managers on inclusive recruitment and selection practices. • Support recruitment campaigns from attraction through to appointment. • Review role profiles and job descriptions and undertake job matching activities. • Work with hiring managers and external agencies to deliver effective recruitment solutions. Employee Relations • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and employees on a wide range of people matters. • Support employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management and performance issues. • Assist with organisational change projects, restructures and contractual variation processes. • Support family-friendly policy requests and occupational health referrals where required. People Projects & Continuous Improvement • Contribute to organisation-wide people projects and initiatives. • Help improve people processes, systems and ways of working. • Support appraisal, onboarding and colleague experience activities. • Use people data and insights to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Reward & Benefits • Advise managers on pay and reward matters, including starting salaries, market force supplements and honorariums. • Support communications relating to pay progression and annual pay awards. Required Skills & Qualifications: • CIPD qualification (or be working towards one) and/or relevant degree-level education. • Experience operating at HR/People Advisor level. • Strong employee relations knowledge and experience providing policy and procedural advice. • Recruitment experience, including advising managers and supporting interviews. • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills. • Experience using HR/People systems and analysing workforce data.
